"Natural Balance Hoof Care" Book & DVD Education System
- A Practical Guide to Hoof Care Science & Foot Function for Pleasure & Performance Horses. -

|

$150
|
“Natural Balance Hoof Care” is more than just book about hoof care. It is a comprehensive learning system that is developed to offer practical information for everyone from horse owners interested in the maintenance of their horse's feet, to seasoned farriers looking for useful information that will compliment their current hoof care knowledge. Because people learn and comprehend information in different ways, the "Natural Balance Hoof Care" book also comes with DVD's that include cooresponding sections, so sections you read in the book are also visually explained in some of the videos. Moreover, there are some things that are better explained visually, so part of the videos may not be covered as closely in the book. So you can see, the whole system maximizes the educational opportunity. And, when you combine this book with the "Natural Balance Hoof Trimming" and the "Natural Balance Shoeing" videos (Ultimate Pack), it's like having Gene Ovnicek in your livingroom to answer questions and offer assistance for many of your hoof care needs.

"Natural Balance
Shoeing" 2 Video Series
This
tape is designed to give individuals
interest in Natural Balance the most
recent information regarding Natural
Balance hoof preparation, application
of Natural Balance® front shoes, Elite
hind shoes, Natural Balance® Pads and
Sole Support Impression Material. We
will also offer some instruction for
horses with mismatched feet, underrun
and contracted heels, as well as horses
that are base narrow or pigeon toed.
Our intentions are to offer some
guidelines for recognizing hoof distortions
and explain how they relate to performance
and lameness issues. On that same
note, we will discuss possible causes
for hoof distortions and give some guidelines
on how to correct them and prevent them
from a simple, common sense perspective.
We
fully respect the work of other educators,
authors and practitioners, and the evolution
of conventional farriery, as most of
it fits well with the new science and
common sense approach of Natural Balance.
At the same time, some of the
new information covered in this video
will include load sharing, the sole
callus, the importance of dirt in the
foot, and why it is important for the
horse to land heel first. Part
of this information was inspired by
studies and observations of self-maintained
feet of feral and domestic horses, with
collaborating research and contributions
by many equally concerned individuals.
The many recent scientific and
histological studies that have been
done in the past 10 years help to further
confirm and add to the ongoing efforts
to uncover the mysteries of the foot.
In light of the common sense approach
to hoof care that Natural Balance offers,
many horses have overcome hoof distortions
and lameness issues to become the champions
they were destined to be.
The
NB Shoeing video is a 2 volume series
with a total run time of over 170 minutes.
Volume 1 includes 40 minutes of
lecture and dialogue covering some updated
information on anatomy and biomechanics
of the foot. We then go into detailed
hoof preparation and shoe placement
for fairly normal feet, both front and
hind applications. In Volume 2
we go into equal detail on how to deal
with clubbed or mismatched feet, underrun
& contracted heels, and pigeon toed
feet. This video series is available
in a 2 Tape VHS series or a 2 Disc DVD
series.

Essential
Hoof Care - A Horse Owner's Guide to Preventing Lameness &
Improving Performance
What you will see and learn in the 50 minutes
of this video will change forever the way you think about the health and
soundness of your horse. Did you know that stumbling, forging and clipping are
all signs of future lameness? Did you know that your horse should not
consistently experience pain, lameness, or even a few “off” days
after trimming or shoeing? Did you know that a healthy foot could go 8 to 10
weeks and longer between shoeings if he is trimmed and shod
naturally?
These new and scientifically proven concepts will be
discussed in “Essential Hoof Care - a Horse Owner’s Guide to
Preventing Lameness & Improving Performance.” This video is a result
of almost 40 years of research and study by Gene Ovnicek a nationally and
internationally recognized farrier, clinician and researcher. Widely renown for
his wild horse studies on the foot in 1986 and 1987, Gene has taken that
research and continued to work with research scientists and vets from around
the world. Now he is bringing this common sense information on the horse’s
foot to you, the average horse owner.
If you have heard from your vet or
farrier that your horse “doesn’t grow heel”, stumbles because he
is lazy, over reaches or shows signs of Navicular Syndrome then you need to see
this video. You’ll learn what these issues really mean and how you may be
able to correct them. You’ll also learn why it is important for your horse
to land heel first. The purpose of the frog and what a healthy frog looks like.
How to determine the correct point of breakover for your horse, and why all of
this is so important to performance, long term soundness and much, much
more.
You’re going to hear from veterinarians, and farriers, and
how the information provided in this video has changed their perception of the
foot. You’ll hear from professional trainers, breeders and everyday horse
owners who have first hand experience of just what this profound information
and technology has done for them and their horses.
Whether you are
presently struggling with a lame horse or you are just interested in keeping
your horse in top condition “Essential Hoof Care” is a must see for
everyone.

"Natural Balance Hoof Trimming"
- A Common Sense Guide for Servicing the Needs of the Equine
Foot.
For as long as horses have been involved in the lives of
humans, be it work, play or as a companion, the proper maintenance of their
feet has been an age-old practice. The care and maintenance of the horse’s
foot is a primary concern for all that are responsible for the care of horses,
whether barefoot or shod. This video will give you new insight and direction
into the maintenance of the equine foot and the many factors needed to be
considered when natural hoof trimming techniques are employed. It will also
help you understand the needs of the equine hoof, as well as assist you in
determining whether your horse can comfortably go without shoes in his domestic
environment and perform at his expected level of use.
It has become
obvious with the research done by Gene Ovnicek and other well-known clinicians
that the feral horse offers a direction to follow for domestic horse hoof care.
Nutrition, environment, life-style, and climate combined are the components
that are responsible for shaping what appears to be the optimal model for
maintaining the health of the equine foot.
In this video, Gene Ovnicek
will present information on trimming methods to help you maintain a healthy
foot in domestic horses. Gene will discuss basic hoof anatomy and how it
relates to the biomechanical needs of the hoof. He will discuss the importance
of evaluating the environment and how it plays a role in trimming maintenance
as well as in decision making when determining if individual horses can be
successfully left barefoot. Gene will then demonstrate natural balance hoof
trimming techniques, from how to evaluate the pre-trimmed hoof to actual
trimming instructions, which will help balance the structures in the hoof for
optimal function.
Whether you are a farrier looking to get first hand
information on Natural Balance Hoof Care, or a concerned horse owner wanting to
get a better understanding of the needs of their horse's feet and how to assist
in their maintenance, this video is a must. “Natural Balance Hoof Trimming
- A Common Sense Guide to Servicing the Needs of the Equine Foot" is now

core information you are receiving. That's over an hour and a half of

P3 & Navicular Bone Fractures
and Tendon Laceration Instruction Video The P3 Fracture and Tendon
Laceration Video includes detailed instruction for the treatment of P3
fractures and Navicular Bone fractures using the EDSS Fracture
Plate System. The video covers hoof preparation (which differs from normal EDSS
applications), shoe and plate placement, and adjustment specifications. Bonus
Treatment Instructions As seen with the P3 fracture treatment, the EDSS Shoe
and Rail system serve as the base for relieving the forces on the coffin bone,
navicular bone, tendons and ligaments of the lower limb. For that reason, the
shoes and rails have proven to be extremely versatile which makes them a useful
tool for a wide range of applications. Quite often farriers are asked to
fabricate a device that will elevate the foot above what a normal wedge pad or
shoe will provide. Such is the case when treating flexor tendon lacerations or
bowed tendons. The Patton shoe has been a good application for these and
similar pathologies. Many times, raising or lowering adjustments need to be
made to improve the treatment protocol. In most cases a new shoe has to be
fabricated or the existing application has to be remodeled, all of which
require removal of the shoe, plus time and labor used to make the required
alterations. To remedy this problem, EDSS has instructions for tendon related
pathologies (lacerations, bows, strains, etc.) that make it simple and easy to
treat these injury related pathologies by using the EDSS shoes, rails and some
standard 1/2” to 5/8” wedge pads. This shoe and pad combination is
light and provides relief from the strain of anterior and medial/lateral
breakover, and adjustments can be made without removing the shoe. |
